Dengue cases in 2024 already exceed the entire year 2023 in the South of MG

The South of Minas has already surpassed all confirmed cases of dengue in 2023 this year. The data are from the State Department of Health (SES-MG).

According to SES-MG, the South of Minas already has 46,950 confirmed cases of the disease, with seven deaths. Last year, there were 41,586 confirmed cases and 43 deaths.

Varginha continues to lead the number of dengue cases in the region, with 10,113 records. Passos (3,305) and Campo Belo (1,787) appear next.

Varginha (+808), Passos (+574) and Alfenas (+446) are the cities that recorded the biggest increase in the week.

The number of confirmed deaths from dengue in the South of Minas Gerais rose to seven according to the latest data from the SES-MG Monitoring Panel.

According to SES-MG, deaths from the disease were confirmed in Cape Verde, Pouso Alegre and Três Pontas.

On the other hand, SES-MG reclassified two deaths, one in Guaranésia and another in Monsenhor Paulo, which had already been confirmed by the secretariat.

According to the secretariat, another 104 suspected deaths from the disease are under investigation in the region.
