Beach Cleaning Day postponed due to sea unrest

-

The beach cleaning that Póvoa Chamber was going to organize tomorrow, starting at 9 am, was postponed due to the strong sea disturbances predicted for the northern districts of the country. The event was rescheduled for March 16th, scheduled to start at 9:00 am.

For the 16th, the initiative’s recommendations and meeting points remain in place, with the use of comfortable clothing and gloves being advised.

The meeting points are: Esplanada do Carvalhido, Parque Bruno Alves and Marina da Póvoa (next to reception). Once in Aver-o-Mar, you can join the group in the Fragosa car park or in Largo de Quião. In the parish of Aguçadoura, the meeting point is at Largo do Cruzeiro and, in Estela, at the beach next to the golf course.

The postponement of the initiative follows the statement issued by the National Maritime Authority and the Portuguese Navy, published yesterday (28), which warns of a worsening of weather conditions and maritime unrest on the western coast of mainland Portugal, between today and mid- Sunday day. There is a yellow alert at sea until 6:00 am tomorrow, with waves from the northwest measuring 4 to 5 meters. Between 6 am and midnight tomorrow there is an orange alert, with waves that can reach ten meters in height. Then, there will be a yellow alert again between midnight and noon on Sunday.
