Socialists in the Alcanena executive denounced the lack of conditions in the canteen

Lack of control, hygiene and food safety has caused a lot of concern to those in charge of education at the Minde School Center, according to councilor Tiago Borralho at the last Alcanena council meeting.

Several parents and guardians of students at Centro Escolar de Minde have expressed their concern and displeasure with the operation of the school canteen. According to councilor Tiago Borralho, several complaints were forwarded to him, with some guardians ultimately admitting to filing a complaint with the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) due to the lack of conditions in the space.
The Socialist Party councilor spoke at the last meeting of the municipal executive, bringing to the table several issues related to the lack of hygiene, control and food safety in the school center’s canteen, as well as the behavior of some employees. Tiago Borralho stressed that the reports are from parents and guardians and that they are based on what students say when they get home.
Councilor Marlene Carvalho, responsible for Education in the municipality, stated that so far she has not received any complaints. However, the mayor said that supervision will be reinforced and that measures will be taken if some of the behaviors described are verified. Marlene Carvalho also added that parents can and should attend the meal, if they request it in advance, to understand the reality of the situation.
