Portugal thrashes Sweden without Cristiano Ronaldo and with a Brazilian goal

Matheus Nunes, who scored Portugal’s second goal, is Brazilian. The midfielder is originally from Rio de Janeiro, but moved to Portugal early and opted for naturalization.

Portugal returns to the field next Tuesday (26), when they will face Slovenia, outside the house, at 4:45 pm (Brasília time). The day before, Sweden hosts Albania at 3pm. Both games are friendly.

How was the game

The game started with a dangerous attack for each team. Sweden got scared in the first few moves after Kulusevski stole a ball in the attacking field, and Isak kicked a cross. Portugal responded with a bomb from Matheus Nunes, which ended in Olsen’s defense.

Portugal took control of the match and took advantage with Rafael Leão. The Milan striker took advantage of Bernardo Silva’s shot at the crossbar and sent the ball into the corner to open the scoring for the home team in the 23rd minute.

The Portuguese team reached 3-0 in the first half. Matheus Nunes, who is Brazilian by birth, scored the second after an individual play and a low finish. Just before the break, Semedo received the ball on the right and only passed it to Bruno Fernandes, without a goalkeeper, to complete it.
