A Benfica’s women’s basketball team won its third Portuguese Cup, this Sunday, by defeating GDESSA Barreiro 61-42, in a final played in Torres Novas, ‘erasing’ the disappointment caused by the last final of the competition, last season.
The Eagles – who had defeated Quinta dos Lombos (66-52) – even started slightly better and closed the first period winning 17-14, followed by a second quarter again favorable (18-12) leading to 35- 26 at half-time.
In the third period, the Reds smiled with a 12-10 on the scoreboard and, against the team that had defeated União Sportiva (60-55), they ended up sentencing their doubts in the final quarter (14-6), with 61- 42 end.
In this way, after the achievements of 2021 and 2022, Benfica wins the competition again for the third time, after the defeat against Quinta dos Lombos (53-51) approximately a year ago.
