Leiria will receive the third ALDI store, in Marinheiros. With a total area of 1,870 square meters, the new establishment will be located on Rua da Escola and opens tomorrow.

The retailer favors fresh products of national origin, “such as fruits, vegetables and fresh meat”.

The new ALDI in Leiria also offers all customers 76 parking spaces, an electric charger station, bicycle parking and dogs parking.

In parallel with its construction project, the retailer carried out some improvement works in the surrounding areas, which involved the creation of public parking spaces, the installation of ecological islands for urban solid waste and the installation of a bus stop.

“Leiria is a district capital with strong commercial dynamism, and with an important hospital and polytechnic university center, which has been growing in number of inhabitants. Therefore, our objective is to respond to the needs of the entire population, therefore, it makes perfect sense to reinforce our presence in the city. We want to reach more people from Leiria, serving in close proximity”, explains João Braz Teixeira, managing director expansion and construction at ALDI Portugal.

Contributing to the communities where it operates is also a priority for ALDI, which, in this sense, established a partnership with two local institutions – Re-Food de Leiria and ABEP (Associação Bem Estar de Parceiros) – for the donation of surplus food from the new store.

“This will be help that will reach around 60 families and 12 other institutions in Leiria supported by Re-Food, and also to the units to which ABEP provides assistance, namely the day center, residential structure for the elderly, home support service and daycare, totaling more than 150 people”, informs ALDI in a press release.

To open the new space, the food retailer also prioritized local recruitment, including the entire store team, with around 20 employees.
