As tradition dictates, it once again belongs to a creator from Escariz São Mamede, in the municipality of Vila Verde, who is once again the protagonist of the new edition of the Procissão da Burrinha, which is scheduled for 9:30 pm this Wednesday, in Braga .
The organization’s expectation is that the forecasts of bad weather will not be confirmed and that it will be possible to once again take to the streets of the city the biblical procession “You Will Be My People”, which the parish and the Parish Council of São Victor have been organizing since 1998.
Clemente Alves, from Braga, will once again take on the responsibility, which he has assumed for 26 years, of guiding the donkey, in this case “Bela”, who is making her debut on these journeys. “It was about to be another, the Princess, who already went with me to Passos to Cambeses [Barcelos]. It was just too crowded [grávida] and rested”, Clemente explained to JN.
Better known as the Burrinha Procession, this is one of the most emblematic and popular moments in the Holy Week program, usually attracting thousands of people to the city center.
This year’s edition will feature around 800 extras and 24 biblical paintings, following the usual route, which leaves from the Church of São Victor, at 9:30 pm, towards the historic center of Braga.
