An eagle was found very weak after being shot. It is now being treated at the Wild Animal Recovery and Research Center (RIAS), in Olhão, showing positive progress.

As revealed by RIAS, through its website, the round-winged eagle was found next to the Algarve Stadium, at the end of January. After being admitted to the center, the animal was subjected to a “radiological examination that confirmed the existence of several lead projectiles, somewhat throughout the body, but luckily, not affecting any organ”.

At the time, the eagle “was unable to remain standing, and it was necessary to force feed it for a few days”, explains RIAS. And he adds that “every week, and gradually, passive physiotherapy was carried out to improve joint mobility and give him a greater chance of being able to fly perfectly”.

At this moment, the bird “is already in an outdoor facility, where it has space to continue performing physiotherapy, but now, actively, flying around in the available space”.
