A study by the University of Minho detected various pathologies in the buildings of the former Cinema S. Geraldo and Pé Alado, forcing a review of the project for the space that will house the “Media Arts” center.

The revelation was made today by the president of Braga City Council, in response to socialist councilor Adolfo Macedo.

At the executive meeting, at the Junta da Sé, the PS councilor took advantage of the absence of reference to S. Geraldo and the “Media Arts” center in the statutes of Faz Cultura – Empresa Municipal de Cultura de Braga, EM, which replaces the Municipal Company Teatro Circo, to ask about the progress of the project.

Ricardo Rio said that the study by the Minho academy revealed the existence of various pathologies that will have to be corrected from a structural point of view and that do not allow the works to progress with the project that was planned.

Without giving any dates for the conclusion of negotiations for the acquisition of the buildings, he said that information from municipal services indicates that the project should be ready by September, with it being possible to move forward with the tender procedure afterwards.
