Is your sex life with your partner no longer the same? Are you worried that he no longer desires you or that he is with another woman? Tracey Cox, a sex therapist, presents five reasons why men are not as interested in sex as the years go by.

According to Tracey Cox, in a third of couples who seek therapy because of differences in sexual desire, the woman wants sex more than the man. The expert also says that the belief that men think about and want sex constantly is false and harmful women’s self-esteem when their partner avoids sexual relations.

Erection problemsThe sex therapist explains that one of the most plausible reasons for a man to avoid having sex is related to erection problems. “If a woman confesses to me that her partner is suddenly avoiding sex and doesn’t want to talk about it, my first question is, ‘How old is he? If he’s over 40, I suspect the erection difficulties are related. with that. If he is over 50 years old, I guarantee that this is the case”, he tells the DailyMail.

According to Tracey Cox, many men feel embarrassed about having erection difficulties and therefore tend to avoid intimacy with their partners. “Many men would rather not have sex than deal with a penis that ‘doesn’t work’. For most men, sex means putting your penis on something,” she says.

Little sexual desire

The first sign of a low libido appears around two years into a relationship, explains the expert. The second most common time for a lack of sexual desire comes with the birth of children.

Tracey Cox says that many women assume the worst when they stop being intimate with their partner: that there is another woman or that there is no longer love. But extramarital sex is rarely the reason a man loses sexual desire for his partner.

“The truth is that men do not, by nature, have a higher sexual desire than women: it is a stereotype. Desire is a complex interaction of biological, psychological and social factors that vary greatly between individuals, regardless of sex” , vinca.

He thinks he’s being kind

Another reason why your partner does not seek you out for sexual relations may be related to the relationship he received when he was a child. Out of respect for women or because they lived in a family where the father had several affairs, some men believe that they should not be the ones to look for partners for sexual acts.

“This can also happen to men if their mother has been mistreated by men. The message she sends (deliberately or unconsciously) is that men’s sexual desire is harmful to women. The son then works to decrease his and feel ashamed if you don’t achieve it”, says the therapist.

Stress and depression

A study reveals that one in five men say their libido is low because they are too stressed about work.”What many people do when they are stressed is drink alcohol, which affects the production of testosterone, the main hormone responsible for our sexual desire”, he informs.

Stress can ultimately lead to depression, which leads to the use of antidepressant medications. These also tend to lower livid.

Lack of self-esteem

There is a constant discussion about female body image and its impact on sexual desire. But men also struggle with feelings of attractiveness and can also develop issues with self-esteem.
