In an interview with People magazine, Parris declared that, in his view, the public only seeks good films, regardless of genre.

“I think people want good movies. And if there’s superheroes and passion and storytelling, and you’re not just giving me numbers, I think people are here for it.”

The actress continues: “So, I don’t know. I think we say that because it’s easy to just say, ‘Ah, superhero fatigue,’ but I think we want – because I watch them too – I want good stories with great characters, that mean something and have something to say.”

Remembering that despite expectations, ‘The Marvels’ marked the worst box office in Marvel history, grossing just US$205.8 million in revenue. The film made a significant loss for the studio.

This new film registered a box office lower than that of ‘The incredible Hulk’which earned US$264 million in 2008.

According to Collider, ‘The Marvels’ had a production cost higher than US$250 millionadded to marketing expenses and other investments, requiring a global revenue of US$700 million just to pay yourself.

Comparatively, ‘The Marvels’ failed to surpass even the global collection of ‘The Flash’ ($270.6 million)which was also considered one of the big flops of 2023.

‘The Marvels’ is available on Disney Plus.
