Leak: The Quintessential Quintuplets will return with an original anime

One https://twitter.com/SugoiLITE/status/1783383418820346169 revealed that The Quintessential Quintuplets (Gotoubun no Hanayome) will get a new anime with an original story supervised by Negi Haruba, author of the manga. The new anime will reportedly be titled The Quintessential Quintuplets* (Gotoubun no Hanayome *).

Although the leak does not reveal additional details, it indicates that the story will tell the honeymoon of Futaro Uesugi and the protagonists, something that was not seen in the original manga. As for the premiere and production details, they will be revealed later, perhaps on the quintuplets’ anniversary, on May 5th.

The manga was initially published as a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2017 and became a serialized manga that same year. The manga ended serialization in the magazine on February 19, 2020 and its 14th final volume was released on April 17, 2020.

The manga inspired a 12-episode anime series adaptation by the studios Tezuka Productionsunder the direction of Satoshi Kuwabara that premiered in January 2019. A second season produced by Bibury Animation Studios was shown in 2021. The anime film The Quintessential Quintuplets the Movie premiered in May 2022, thus closing the story.

The special The Quintessential Quintuplets ∽ (Gotōbun no Hanayome∽) premiered in July 2023.

Fuutarou Uesugi is a poor and antisocial student who one day meets rich transfer student Itsuki Nakano.
