At a show in Los Angeles, Madonna caught the attention of a fan who was in a wheelchair for not standing up during his performance. On social media, many interpreted the situation as embarrassing, but Vanessa Gorman, who is paraplegic, told “TMZ” that she was not offended.
Gorman said she was initially surprised by the singer’s attention. Sitting in a bright pink wheelchair, she imagined the singer could see her clearly. However, she was unfazed by the attention and responded by saying that she loved the singer.
Upon watching the video of the exchange between her and Madonna, Gorman, who is paraplegic due to a 1999 car accident, believes that the artist had no ill intentions and attributed the incident to a mistake. “She had no idea I was a paraplegic,” she said.
At the time, the fan applauds Madonna for immediately apologizing. The singer remained silent for a few seconds and then said: “Oh, okay. I understand. Politically incorrect. Sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here.” Back at the center of the stage, he couldn’t contain himself: “Oh my gosh!” [“Oh, meu Deus!, em linguagem mais informal].
