After the regional legislative elections on February 4, the Socialist Party (PS), which elected 23 deputies, and the Left Bloc (BE), with one deputy elected, announced that they will vote against the XIV Regional Government Program (PSD/CDS /PPM).

Chega will abstain this Friday from voting on the Government of the Azores Program in the archipelago’s parliament, announced the party’s regional leader, which will thus make the document’s approval possible.

José Pacheco was speaking to journalists before the start of the parliamentary session in which the vote will take place, in Horta, on the island of Faial.

After the regional legislative elections on February 4, the Socialist Party (PS), which elected 23 deputies, and the Left Bloc (BE), with one deputy elected, announced that they will vote against the Program of the fourteenth Regional Government (PSD/ CDS/PPM).

If Chega’s five deputies also voted against, there would be an absolute majority (29 mandates), enough to fail the document, which would imply the dismissal of the executive led by social democrat José Manuel Bolieiro.

Initially, Chega, the third most voted political force in the Azores, made the voting direction dependent on the party’s entry into the executive, a demand that did not materialize. However, he began to admit an understanding with the PSD, the largest party in the coalition.

The Legislative Assembly, where the PSD/CDS/PPM coalition has 26 seats, is also composed of a deputy from IL and one from PAN.
