The date of the first meeting of the new Parliament is now known

The publication in Diário da República, this Saturday, of the official map with the results of the legislative elections, of March 10th, determines that the first meeting of the Assembly of the Republic of the new legislature will take place next Tuesday, March 26th.

The Constitution establishes that “the Assembly of the Republic meets in its own right on the third day following the calculation of the general results of the elections”.

In the first session, deputies will elect the next president of the Assembly of the Republic, who will succeed the socialist Augusto Santos Silva, who failed to be elected by the Outside of Europe circle in the last legislative elections.
