Two seasons later, Benfica once again lifted the Portuguese Cup trophy! In Torres Novas, the eagles beat GDESSA 61-42 and became champions of the competition for the third time.
It was a duel completely dominated by Eugénio Rodrigues’ team in most details. The first period showed this, despite the great response given by the Barreiros team. At the end of the first ten minutes, Benfica led 17-14.

Despite the greater balance in the third period, which ended with a 12-10 victory for the Eagles, the last and decisive ten minutes ended in celebration for the Luz club.
