Geard Piqué shared a dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, at Manchester United, and, in an interview given this Thursday, to British radio talkSPORTexplained how he saw him change radically, when he left for Real Madrid, in the summer of 2018.
“He wasn’t that kind of person. He was very focused on the team, despite making headlines in the newspapers. He was very close to all of us, and focused solely on winning titles, like the Champions League “He was the best and he was winning the Ballon d’Or. It wasn’t a priority for him,” he said.
“He started as a winger, at Manchester United. He had a lot of technique, and then, when he moved to Real Madrid, he started to become a goalscorer, like a pure number 9”, continued the former Spanish international.
“At Manchester United, when I played with him, he loved to dribble and was very technical. But I assume he realized that, at Real Madrid, if you want to be the best, you have to score a lot of goals,” he added.
