Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea coach, spoke to journalists after the Blues’ heavy 5-0 defeat due to the 5-0 defeat to Arsenal, in matchday 29 of the Premier League.

“We started the first half very badly, we didn’t show energy, we didn’t fight, and in the second half we started in the same way”, he began by acknowledging.

“We talked a lot at half-time to try to resolve the situation, but it was very easy for Arsenal to score two more goals in the second half.” continued Pochettino.

“We weren’t a real team, that’s clear. Starting the game the way we started is not acceptable, that’s the problem.

“After 70 or 80 minutes everything is fine, the fatigue is greater and the energy fails, but not at the beginning of the game, as happened to us. The way we started was too painful and I am very disappointed. It’s not enough to get on the field to play football, you need to have more energy and more focus. This is the most difficult aspect to explain”, he continues.

Still on what was Chelsea’s worst result in a London derby since 1986, the Argentine coach commented: “It’s bad for the players, for the club, for the technical team, for everyone… Everyone is hurt by this result, but the problem is to realize beforehand, when preparing the game, that it is a derby”.

Afterwards, he left an apology. “All I can say is that I apologize to the fans, because I think in the first 15 minutes or 30 minutes of each half, we didn’t fight,” he concluded.
