Leicester moves up to the Premier League and Fatawu earns 17 million euros for Sporting

-

This Friday, Leicester guaranteed promotion to the Premier League, with the defeat of Leeds United on their visit to Queens Park Rangers, 4-0, in the 45th and penultimate round of the Championship, the II English League.

Goals from Ilias Chair (8m), Lucas Andersen (22m), Lyndon Dykes (73m) and Sam Field (86m) dictated the heavy defeat of the Champonship runner-up, which not only compromised the accounts of the direct promotion, but also made it possible to celebrate in advance to Leicester.

With this result, Leicester, where the Portuguese Ricardo Pereira plays, goes up a year after relegation and the one celebrating, but on a financial level, is Sporting.

With Leicester’s rise, the sale of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been definitively confirmed, which will yield 17 million euros to Sporting. The Ghanaian had been loaned by the Lions to Leicester, with a mandatory purchase clause of 17 million euros in case of a promotion, according to the English press. It also included another possible clause to confirm the deal (playing 60 percent of Leicester’s games, which was already achieved in February), but if there were any doubts, the promotion dispels them. So far, none of the clubs have commented on the completion of the deal.

The Leicester squad watched the game together and immediately celebrated promotion, with Leeds’ defeat. And it was Fatawu who took the lead when filming the first images of the party.

The team coached by the Italian Enzo Maresca, which visits Preston North End on Monday, at the end of the day, is leader with 94 points, four more than Leeds, 2nd with 90 and already only with the possibility of reaching the 93. Ipswich, which is still fighting for direct promotion, is 3rd with 89 points and two games less than Leeds and one less than Leicester.
