You can now sing to YouTube Music on iOS! See how it works

In October 2023, Google launched a feature in the YouTube app for Android that allowed you to search for a song by humming or playing a clip of that song, making it easier to search for a song whose name you don’t know. Now, the company is implementing the same feature on YouTube Music for iOS, which means you can now sing to it.

According to an image posted by a user on Reddit, the YouTube Music app for iOS now features a new button on the right side of the voice search button. This is the same button that is marked “Song” in the YouTube app for Android. This allows you to search for a song by humming it or playing a clip of that song.

Currently, there is no information whether the latest functionality is part of the beta or stable version of the application. It appears that Google is rolling it out to a limited number of people in very few regions. We hope Google brings the ability to search for a song by humming or singing that song or playing a clip of that song to the YouTube Music app for Android soon.

But there are also new features on the computer

The desktop version of YouTube Music is launching offline downloads. While not all users have received the feature so far, some people have already spotted it while browsing an album or individual page. Here, a “Save to Library” download button appears and a download indicator appears when the option is selected.

When you start collecting files for offline use, you’ll see a new Downloads tab when you visit the YouTube Music Library page. If you can maintain an active Internet connection, i.e. connectivity at least once every 30 days, your downloads will remain intact. For now, it appears the feature is only working on the YouTube Music web app.

So far, it is unclear whether the function will only be available to YouTube Music Premium subscribers, similar to the model used by other streaming services. Google has not yet officially announced that the feature has arrived, which may be the reason why it is still limited to certain users. That said, having the option to download music for offline listening could eventually improve the way you use the service. If you often find yourself in situations where you want to use YouTube Music but don’t have an Internet connection, the new option could be a game-changer.
