HMD will “resurrect” another iconic Nokia model. Return is scheduled for May – Equipment

As it prepares to hit the market with its own smartphones, including a Barbie cell phone announced during the 2024 edition of Mobile World Congress, HMD announces that it is preparing the return of an iconic Nokia model.

According to a publication by the technology company on the social network X (formerly Twitter), the return is scheduled for May. Information about the model is still scarce, with only a pixelated image on the HMD website, in addition to the 8-bit version that appears in the shared image.

However, there are some clues that could point to the Nokia model that HMD will “resurrect”. As the international press advances, one of them is the date on which the publication was made, which coincides with the “birthday” of the Nokia 3210.

Launched on March 18, 1999, this cell phone became known not only for allowing you to play Snake, but also for the possibility of changing covers and customizing the phone’s exterior appearance. In total, it is estimated that 161 million units of this model were sold worldwide.

Another possibility on the table is the Nokia 3310another of the Finnish brand’s iconic cell phones. This model had already been recovered in 2017with a more modern version revealed during this year’s edition of the Mobile World Congress.

The Nokia 3310 is not the only cell phone recovered by HMD and the list includes models such as the Nokia 8110, which became known as the “banana phone”, the Xpress Music 5310 and the Nokia 6310.
