Regarding the death of police officer Marcos Alan Magalhães Vicente, 46 years old, police chief Ives Correia, regional police coordinator (1st Coorpin), confirmed that there was a robbery (robbery followed by death). To Acorda Cidade, the delegate also confirmed that two suspects in the crime were identified, one of whom died in a confrontation with police officers this afternoon (13), in the city of Santo Estêvão. A 38 caliber revolver and ammunition were seized from him. According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA), another suspect involved in the crime was taken away by Civil Police teams and released.

The investigations began immediately after the incident, with a search for images, cameras and witnesses. One of the actions resulted in a confrontation that ended in the death of one of the suspects. Other people are being investigated for supporting the criminals’ escape.

“One suspect in the crime died in a confrontation with police officers and another was identified. This is a crime of robbery, which is a robbery followed by death. Their intention, at first, was to rob, but they shot the police officer in the head, so the robbery was completed. Yves Correia also reported that the suspect who died had already been recognized and was persistent in crimes of this type.

He ended up reacting in Santo Estevão and passed away. This means that one of the authors has already been identified and reached by the teams. Other individuals are being investigated, including one being brought here and the police are working on the investigation to identify the others involved. We know that there were two in the action, specifically, but we also knew that others provided support for the escape, provided support to stay in a house, etc.,” he said.

Regarding the hypothesis of alleged execution, the delegate ruled it out. “Apparently, it was not [execução]. What happened, according to even his own daughter who was there at the time, of course, the military police officer has instinct, a normal practice of any police officer, so, when faced with an armed individual, he doesn’t know what could happen, so, The police reaction is natural. Regarding the fact that he was followed, the delegate explains that this attitude in itself does not characterize the execution. “We know that sometimes, when an individual goes to steal, he follows through. The police are committed to identifying everyone involved, and teams will remain on the streets until everyone is captured.

“We are looking for all the perpetrators, so the teams are on the streets and we will not stop until we catch them all. Everyone is working, committed to responding,” she assured.
