This Friday, the Negotiation and Financial Guidance Task Force 2024. The initiative — launched on the date Consumer Day is celebrated — allows negotiate credit card debts, overdrafts, payroll loans and other types of overdue creditwhich do not have assets pledged as collateral and are not time-barred.
Negotiations can be done directly with the bank, through the official channels of each institution, or through the consumer.gov.br portal, as long as the citizen has an account on the Gov.br tool, silver or gold level.
Another option is to access the National Consumer Service System – Proconsumidor, which brings together requests and complaints registered with Procons and Public Defenders. These entities will mediate negotiations with banks.
One month to negotiate
The campaign — which will run until April 15 — is promoted by the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) in partnership with the Central Bank of Brazil; the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon), linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security; and Procons from across the country.
According to Febraban, on the collective effort’s page, consumers can find step-by-step videos on how to negotiate debts. It also has exclusive content on financial guidance.
