Samsung launched the Galaxy M15 and Galaxy M55 smartphones in the Brazilian market. Both devices arrive just a few weeks after the South Korean company presented the latest models in the “A” line, which is also dedicated to mid-range cell phones.

The two new products are available on the online pages of the main Brazilian retailers starting this Wednesday (27).

The two devices already come from the factory with Android 14. According to Renato Citrini, Senior Manager of Mobile Products at Samsung Brazil, both will have support for four operating system updates — that is, up to Android 18, and five years of security updates .

The Galaxy M15 has more modest technical specifications, which is reflected in its suggested price, R$ 1,499, which is half that of the M55, an option for those looking for a slightly more robust intermediary with greater performance power, which costs R $3,199.

Galaxy M15

The most basic model hits the market with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. The display also has Vision Booster features, which improve brightness and improve viewing in outdoor environments , and Eye Care, which reduces blue light emissions at night.

The camera set has a big new feature. In addition to the 50 MP main sensor and 2 MP macro, the Galaxy M15 now features a 5 MP ultrawide lens, a component absent in last year’s model. The selfie camera is exactly the same as the M14, with a 13 MP sensor.

Another highlight of the device is the hardware that features a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The device also comes standard with 5G technology and a 6,000 mAh battery, with support for 45 Watt charging.

Galaxy M55

The Galaxy M55 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. This year, Samsung chose not to bring the option with 128 GB of memory to Brazil, which would inevitably be cheaper.

The camera set remains essentially the same, with a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The big highlight, however, is the incredible 50 MP front camera, something that is not common even in the high-end smartphone segment.

The panel also has AMOLED technology, but is slightly larger than the one present in the M15, measuring 6.7 inches. The display also has Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate that can vary up to 120 Hz. The battery has 5,000 mAh and support for 45 W ultra-fast charging.

Galaxy M: a line of smartphones aimed at the “digital public”

To the Chalk BrazilCitrini declared that, unlike the “A” line audience, who prefer to physically test devices before purchasing, the consumer of “M” line devices is a little more “digital”.

In addition to having the habit of purchasing online, the executive considers the target audience of “Galaxy M” to be a little more concerned with finding out as much information as possible about the products.

He goes on comparison sites, reviews and searches for technical specifications and doesn’t care so much about color or design attributes. It is an audience focused on hardware and that normally purchases online.”, stated Citrini.

When we brought the line, we identified the need to have a specific line for the ‘online world’ because, during the pandemic, people got used to — and were forced to — make more purchases on the internet, which ended up being advantageous for the Galaxy M, which is more present in online retailers

The head of mobile at Samsung Brazil also stated that the concern for technical specifications, as well as the habit of purchasing online, are specific characteristics of the Brazilian public and that, for this reason, the company chose to bring the line to the country to the detriment of others important markets in Europe or even the United States.

We think about the characteristics of each market. The ‘M’ line, for example, is not present in all countries. If you go to the USA you won’t find the ‘M’ line. But in other countries where online is very strong and the public is more focused on specifications, as is the case in Brazil, India and Mexico, for example, you will find

He also justified the absence of a Galaxy M55 with 128 GB of internal storage, stating that the Brazilian public is one of the few in the world where memory is essential, since at all times, even those who are not content producers, are recording moments in high-quality photos and videos — and which take up a lot of space on your cell phone.

It is interesting to compare products from the same range in Brazil and the USA. Generally, American market smartphones have less memory. There was a time when this was very clear. When we launched flagships, the ones in Brazil had twice the memory of the American ones, because it’s not something that the US public demands as much. The Brazilian is now taking photos, filming, sharing on WhatsApp and other networks. This calls for more storage
