Orlando Caldeira makes his first public appearance after serious accident: ‘Renasci’ | Events

Actor Orlando Caldeira, 39 years old, made his first public appearance after suffering a serious motorcycle accident, which left him hospitalized for 20 days. He was at the 2024 edition of the I Love PRIO humor award, in Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday (28).

“I was reborn 40 days ago. I’m the youngest here,” he told Who. Orlando suffered the accident on February 10 in Salvador, Bahia, and was released from hospital in early March. He will continue treatment at home.

The actor commented in an interview that he is very excited to be at the awards ceremony after the serious accident he suffered. Orlando feels that he has returned to life and declared that spirituality was a very important point in his recovery.

“It’s very emotional to be here. I almost cried. I’m at home recovering. I usually sleep at 7:30 pm, but today I’m here awake and I said: ‘Wow, what a feeling. I’m coming back, I’m back!’. It was a very, very crazy process , and I have to be very grateful to spirituality, because it was very present, it helped me a lot. Everyone who talks to me says that I was very lucky”, celebrated Caldeira.

“To think that, 40 days ago, I was in a coma and today I’m here. It’s a huge victory! I’m the youngest person here: I was 40 days old. So it’s all new again. I had surgery on my knee, so I have to wait for the surgery to improve and that’s why I’m using a cane”, he added.

Gaymada

With the show Naked – Gaymada’s Timedirected and created by Caldeira, nominated in five categories, he spoke of the triumphant return at the awards and the importance of the play, especially after the accident.

“It’s really cool, because it’s a piece that talks about the Rio suburbs, Olaria, where I was born and raised, and making a work of art that talks about our origins, right? So here it’s a big prize, it’s a prize of humor, the whole theater class here and we are competing talking about our Rio de Janeiro, suburban Brazil, and this sport that many people don’t know about. And there are a lot of people who play this sport that is revolutionizing things here in the country” , he celebrated, who will soon resume his professional projects.

“I had a lot of projects, because I’m a person who works a lot, and I needed to stop. There’s a play I’m directing that’s in France, I’m still going there, so I have to recover for things to flow well”, finished.

It is worth remembering that Orlando was placed in an induced coma and intubated due to the accident, improved and was extubated on February 12th. In early March, doctors found that he had no neurological damage and underwent orthopedic surgery.
