Formed in Olodum Theater Band and considered a powerful voice in the black movement and in actions in favor of women’s rights, the artist spoke with Alô Alô Bahia about her relationship with Salvador, who turns 475 years old this Friday (29). “The people of Salvador inspire me for their resistance in the blackest city in Brazil, especially the Bahians from Acarajé, for their strength and representation“, he states.

At 55 years of age, Edvana collects a series of special memories linked to the capital of Bahialike the first time he saw the city directly from the Fort of São Marceloin the middle of Carnival, or the dazzling parades of Ilê Aiyê in Curuzu, with all its power, colors and drums.

The Salvadoran also highlights that, in addition to knowing the Pillory, the place where he began his career and an important artistic cradle in his hometown, Salvador offers diverse experiences for those who want to discover the essence of Bahian DNA. “Senzala do Barro Preto, the beaches of Ribeira and Buracão and the Museum of Modern Art are places that people need to go to truly experience Salvador. It is also worth attending the Olodum rehearsals and the Bando de Teatro shows, as well as eating something on a tray in any Bahian in the city and visiting Candomblé terreiros“, he points out.
