Senacon also placed an order with Anac. She requested that the National Civil Aviation Agency participate and monitor all procedures that will be opened at the agency regarding the case. The Ministry of Ports and Airports and Anac will investigate the episode.
Secretary highlights the importance of investigating the case. According to Senacon, the number of pets transported on planes is high in Brazil, therefore, investigating possible mistreatment or non-compliance with animal health and safety standards is essential.
Not only to clarify the facts, but also to ensure that they are transported safely throughout the journey. And, for all these reasons, we will recommend that Anac regulate the transport of pets and we will also request Senacon’s participation in drafting the resolution.

Anac did not regulate air transport of animals. The only exception is in relation to guide dogs, in which there is a resolution that provides for the animal to be placed next to the passenger with impaired vision.
Currently, each airline has a rule for transporting animals, specifying the size and weight, in the cabin or in the plane’s cargo compartment. It is up to companies to inform in advance what their standards and conditions are necessary for transport, in order to guarantee the safety of passengers, crew and pets.
