The team from the group Molejo was the victim of a robbery on Friday night (26/4), the same day as the death of the band’s lead singer, Anderson Leonardo. The crime compromised the group’s communications, which is in the process of resuming activities.
The pagodeiros’ advisory issued a statement about the situation. “We were victims of a robbery today, resulting in the interruption of our communications via telephone and WhatsApp,” said the group’s official Instagram profile. “At this time, we are in the process of recovering and resuming operations. We ask for the understanding of the press and other interested parties as we deal with this situation.”
Death of Anderson Leonardo
Anderson Leonardo’s death occurred at Hospital Unimed, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The 51-year-old musician had been fighting cancer since October 2022, when he discovered a tumor in the inguinal region. After three months of treatment, he had announced a cure for the disease. However, in May 2023, a new diagnosis showed the presence of metastases in the testicles, and Leonardo has been undergoing treatment since then.
In September last year, the artist was hospitalized to treat a pulmonary embolism, and ended up staying in the ICU for 11 days. At the end of February this year, he returned to the hospital with severe pain, complaining of feeling unwell after a show. Leonardo underwent alternative treatment and a gastric nerve plexus block to control chronic pain.
He returned to the hospital unwell on April 22, where he was admitted to the ICU due to his worsening cancer. In serious condition, he died four days later. The musician’s death was mourned by fans, friends and professional colleagues.
