Video shows security guards beating and shooting patient who killed hospital guard

The guard arrested in the act for having shot the patient who killed another guard at Hospital da Restauração, on Friday (26), was released after undergoing a custody hearing this Saturday (27). He will await the conclusion of the police investigation in freedom. The patient died instantly (see video above).

The decision, available on the website of the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE), states that the security guard’s provisional release was requested by the Public Ministry of Pernambuco (MPPE). The MP also requested approval of the act, which was accepted by the Court.

In an interview with TV Globo on Friday (26), delegate Diego Pinheiro, manager of the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP) explained that Rusten was arrested because, according to the video showing the moment of the shot, the patient was no longer able to react (see video below).

Security guard Nivaldo Bezerra da Silva, aged 66, was on his last shift before retiring when the tragedy occurred. The patient stole a gun from a colleague during the changing of guard. In an attempt to recover the weapons, Nivaldo was shot twice and died in the HR emergency room.

After shooting, the patient tried to escape through an exit behind the hospital, using a staircase that leads to the ambulance parking lot. According to police chief Diego Pinheiro, the shooter stole an ambulance and forced the driver to take him out of the hospital. After a few meters, the car was reached by other hospital guards, who were following the shooter.

When they met, a confrontation began and the patient shot a guard in the chest, who was not injured as he was wearing a bulletproof vest. According to the delegate, the guard who was shot in the chest fired two shots at the patient. It was after this moment that Rusten Ferreira Inojosa was filmed giving the fatal shot.

The Civil Police of Pernambuco reported that it began investigating the case, registered as a completed double homicide and an attempted homicide. A police investigation was launched, under the responsibility of the DHPP, to determine all the facts.
