Faustão joined the queue for a kidney transplant on February 6th and was 13th on the list, according to information confirmed by the Transplant Center of the State of São Paulo. The institution stated that the prioritization criteria were met for the donation. According to State Resolution SS 06 of 2019, the following are prioritization criteria: total impossibility of access to dialysis; post-transplantation of another organ and post-kidney donation.
“In his case, in particular, the priority was due to a previous solid organ transplant”, explained the presenter’s family.
On February 27th, Faustão had already left the ICU and was in one of the rooms at Albert Einstein Hospital. At the time, the presenter cited a seven-day forecast for discharge. “One more week and I’m home, free. For those who have had a heart transplant, a kidney transplant is easier,” he said.
