Easter Sunday marked King Charles III’s public appearance since announcing his cancer diagnosis earlier in the year. Those waiting for the kings at St George’s Chapel, in Windsor, United Kingdom, were received by the 75-year-old monarch in a very lively manner.

In addition to curiosity about the king’s health, the choice of color for Queen Camilla’s and other royal women’s clothes also caught everyone’s attention.

In an interview with the Daily Express website, royal expert Afua Hagan revealed that the green palette used by Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, can be considered as a show of support for the fight waged by Charles and Kate Middleton, who was also diagnosed with cancer in March.

Hagan suggests that “the green may have been a reference to the cancer ribbon in support of Macmillan, one of the largest British charities helping people suffering from the same illness as the King and Princess of Wales.”

The international portal also consulted a personal stylist to understand the meaning behind the clothes worn at the official Easter event. In an interview, Francesca Cairns agreed that the royals were making a statement through their clothing.

«I noticed that royalty combines colors at certain events when they get together and want to make a statement. The choice of green represents growth, a symbolism that is especially appropriate during the Easter season, when themes of sacrifice, resurrection and new beginnings abound, and could definitely also have to do with Macmillan’s cancer,” he says.
