The national beach soccer team ended its participation in the 2024 edition of the COSAFA Tournament with a silver medal.

Mozambique lost in the final against their counterpart Morocco, 4-3, on penalties, after a 4-4 draw in regulation time.

In what was its second final, the national team presented itself as more adult and responsible, assuming the costs of the game, against a calculating opponent who played within the limits of Mozambique’s error.

Saidate Moveia’s team knew how to suffer in crucial moments of the match, in which they led the score for many minutes.

As for Morocco, the opponent against whom the national team lost in the opening game of the competition, they used their experience to “kill” Mozambique’s game.

Until the last minutes of the match, the national team was winning 4-3, but saw their desire to lift the cup for the second time collapse, with the Moroccans’ goal.

Morocco’s goal dragged the game into penalties. The Mozambique team converted three penalties, against four from the Moroccans, who became champions of the competition.

On an individual basis, Mozambique saw the valuable player Figo being voted the best in COSAFA and also the competition’s top scorer, succeeding Nelson Manuel, an athlete who has also been awarded.

In the general picture of Mozambican participation in this regional competition, there is a balance of three wins and two defeats, interestingly against the same opponent, Morocco.
