The Municipal Health Department highlighted that the last shipment represented 40% of the requested volume, and that new doses are expected to be delivered by the weekend. The state, however, has not confirmed the deadline.
To the g1the Epidemiological Surveillance Center (CVE) of the State of São Paulo reported that during the month of March the Ministry of Health “transferred doses against Covid-19 (Bivalent and Pediatric) lower than requested”.
“CVE awaits the receipt of new doses from the National Immunization Program (PNI) to send to GVEs”, informed, in a note, the State Department of Health.
g1 contacted the Ministry of Health to question the information about lower than requested transfers to the state and whether there is a problem in the production or distribution chain of the immunizer. The report will be updated as soon as the MS responds.
The city records 6,300 confirmed cases and 35 deaths by the disease in 2024, and the latest official city hall data on vaccination, from February, shows that 23.8% of the population over 18 years of age took the bivalent booster.
“The public who can receive the bivalent is made up of people aged 12 and over, depending on their vaccination status and/or whether they are part of groups considered priority”, informs the city hall.
Vaccination coverage of the population with the first two doses of the vaccine is 85.5%.
