The Santarém District Social Democratic Youth elected the new bodies at the VII Congress that took place last Saturday, March 16th, in Fátima.

Ricardo Carlos, graduated in management and working in the area of information systems, was elected president of the JSD District Political Committee. Member of the Municipal Assembly of Tomar, the municipality where he is from and where he lives, states that “young people have great value in society, but they are suffering from the current economic context and that it is crucial to implement measures that keep young people in our country and district. As a way of retaining young talents, the district of Santarém stands out for offering a high quality of life. But there are still many gaps, lacking affordable housing or qualified employment. Teleworking is undoubtedly an opportunity, given the proximity to the Lisbon metropolitan area”.

Ricardo Carlos assumes that JSD District is responsible for acting as an active partner in strengthening JSD councils, as well as reactivating inactive councils.

Beatriz Martins, councilor at Santarém City Council, was elected to preside over the District Council.
