The third edition of Dizer Poesia starts this Thursday (March 21), in Viseu. The program opens to the sound of Lina’s fado. The fado singer will present her latest album, “Fado Camões”. This year’s edition, the literary festival celebrates 500 years of Camões.

Journalist Rodrigo Guedes de Carvalho will also be in Viseu this Friday (March 22) to present the music and poetry project RUGE. The writer also works with Daniela Onís and Ruben Alves in the context that begins this Thursday (21st).

“RUGE – Poemas e Canções” takes place at Mercado 2 de Maio on Friday night (9pm), in a show that combines written, sung and spoken words. Both performances are at 9pm at Mercado 2 de Maio.

The concert on the last day of Dizer Poesia – Sunday (March 24) – will be “Do Amor e da Glória em Camões” at 5:30 pm at Teatro Viriato, with original musical composition and interpretation by Rui de Luna, Marcos Lázaro on violin and Natália Luiza in declamation.

This year’s theme for Dizer Poesia is the 500th anniversary of the birth of Luís de Camões. Contrary to what happened in previous editions, in which Dizr Poesia was centered on Casa Amarela (the former municipal archive), this year the event will also reach spaces such as the renovated Mercado 2 de Maio, the Municipal Library, the Almeida Moreira Museum, the City History Museum and the Keil Amaral Museum.

The poetry will also go to Rossio, where there will be a thematic exhibition with a selection of poems by Camões.

Grupo Off will hold guided tours at 11am on Saturday and Sunday, offering poetry, music and dance performances with actors, musicians and dancers. The visits will cover various locations in the city, and participants are invited to discover poetic texts by Camões, Aquilino Ribeiro, António Franco Alexandre, Luís Miguel Nava, Judith Teixeira, Beatriz Pinheiro, João de Pavia, António Alves Martins and Augusto Hilário.

Casa Amarela hosts an exhibition of old editions of “Lusíadas”, Camões’ masterpiece, kept in the old fund of the Municipal Library. In municipal museums, the activities “Come and write your poem (with outside sound”), “Poems jump out of books” and “Blackout poetry” will take place.

In turn, the Cine Clube de Viseu brings the “Curtinhas com Poesia” and the “Escolas Animadas”, both dedicated to exploring animated films, their stories and techniques.
Other initiatives include a ‘lounge’ space to listen to the ‘Camões ao Ouvido’ playlist, with themes from the poet spoken by young people from Viseu and guests, and the ‘spoken word’ format by Pedro Freitas, who will be in Viseu to present the his work “Ela – Metafisamente d’outro Mundo”, interpreting the texts in conjunction with sound ambiences.
