During the week that marks World Sleep Day, the Prado School Group received sessions integrated into the Health Education Project (PES) promoted by the School Health Team of the UCC of Vila Verde.

Hosted by nurse Catarina Carvalho, the sessions had Sleep Hygiene as their theme, with the aim of training the educational community (3rd year 1st cycle students) on the importance that a good night’s sleep has on the physical and mental health of children and alert to the consequences of lack of sleep.

Data regarding their sleeping habits had previously been recorded by the students.

“During the session, the aim was to reflect on the importance of sleep, identify behaviors and contexts that promote good quality and quantity of sleep, promote the adoption of behaviors and habits for good sleep hygiene, identify behaviors and contexts that compromise quality and quantity of sleep and analyze the consequences of lack of sleep”, says the Prado School Group.

These contents were developed through the game “Power of sleep”, using the character Vicente, which served as a theme for the discussion of the various themes.

At the end of the session, a proposal for a game to be developed at home was presented and the challenge for students to create their own “sleep diary”.
