Three researchers from ciTechCare – Center for Innovation in Technologies and Health Care at the Polytechnic of Leiria will join the iCarea Software Medical Informatics project dedicated to “improving the general health and living conditions of people facing serious illnesses, particularly at the end of life”.

Researchers in the field of palliative care at the Polytechnic of Leiria, Carlos Laranjeira, Ana Querido and Maria dos Anjos Dixe make up the European team of the iCare project, which was recently recognized by the Erasmus+ program, with global funding of 250 thousand euros until 2025.

The project consists of an “education program b-learningusing podcasts, leaflets or practical guides”, aimed at health and social professionals and caregivers of people with palliative illnesses, explains Carlos Laranjeira cited in a press release.

This initiative aims to train a team of health and social professionals at an international level, develop national training programs and also make various learning materials available on the Concordia Academy platform, in order to support not only health professionals, but also caregivers of palliative patients.

In addition to the three Portuguese researchers, the team will include Patrick Schuchter, Johannes Jurke and Marianne Buchegger, from Kardinal König Haus, an education center in Vienna, and Elena Gaicu, Ina Dreglea and Irina Adascalitei, from the Concordia Humanitarian Organization, in Romania.
