Aljustrel Mining Park recognized as a relevant sustainable development project

The Aljustrel Mining Park, opened last December, is already a reference throughout the region, and was recently recognized as a relevant sustainable development project at national level.

The information was provided by the municipality of Aljustrel, responsible for this tourist project that has attracted thousands of people to the territory.

The ODS Local platform, coordinated by the National Council for Environment and Sustainable Development, recognized the Aljustrel Mining Park as a relevant sustainable development project at national level. According to ODS Local, “Aljustrel Mining Park meets all criteria and has high relevance and positive impact on the territory”.

Highlights, explains the Municipality, is the fact that the Aljustrel Mining Park is located on an old mining exploration, which with this project it was possible to environmentally rehabilitate, but also its function of protecting, conserving, disseminating and promoting the mining and geological heritage existing.

The Local SDG Platform, which recognized this project as the responsibility of the Aljustrel City Council, monitors the evolution of municipalities in relation to the various targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proposed by the United Nations, namely through progress indicators constructed from information from national databases and from the municipalities themselves.

It is worth remembering that this Park received more than three thousand visitors in just three months, contributing greatly to the promotion of publicity in the municipality.

The Aljustrel Mining Park represents the largest municipal investment ever made in the tourism sector in the municipality, it shows the identity, heritage, landscape, culture, but also geological resources, and is being placed at the service of economic and social status of the territory. Land of Minas and Mineiros, Aljustrel promotes itself through one of the most important activities in the municipality.
