A family, a father and his two sons, were accused of participating in a counterfeiting network in Fafe. According to the Public Ministry (MP), and according to Correio da Manhã, the defendants were involved in the production and sale of counterfeit textile products, on which international brands were placed without authorization. For a period of one year and nine months, the network operated in a company in Fafe, where they manufactured and sold the articles as if they were real.

Six people were charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office with various offenses, including money laundering, merchandise fraud, counterfeiting and illegal use of trademarks. The father and two sons are named as central players in the scheme, writes the diary.

According to investigations, between March 2020 and December 2021, the father of the family produced the clothes in a company, while the two sons provided packaging services in another location. Furthermore, the children are accused of having tried to remove around 55 thousand euros from a residence, resulting from illicit activities, to prevent them from being seized during police searches carried out in December 2021.

The Guimarães Public Prosecutor’s Office also confiscated more than 245 thousand euros from the main defendant’s assets, asking that this amount be forfeited in favor of the State. The case is now in the investigation phase, with the authorities continuing with the necessary steps to conclude the judicial process.
