AAuthorities continue to try to uncover the whereabouts of Véronique and Laurent Blond, a couple of French bakers who disappeared without a trace, in Madeiraon March 16, four days after they landed on the island.

The duo, born in Beaumont-de-Lomage, who were on vacation in the Portuguese archipelago with one of their two daughters, left the house they had rented, in Porto Moniz, to take a “little walk”, as young Johanna told La Dépêche.

She was the one who alerted the authorities about her parents’ disappearance, around five hours after they left the place. At 7 pm, as the sun began to set, she tried to contact them, but to no avail. At around 8pm, she called the police.

To this day, Johanna, who has since returned to France, does not know what could have happened to her parents. “We looked in a lot of places, including places I don’t think we would ever go, but at a certain point we found everything,” she said, admitting to being devastated.

To Point, Johanna confided a few more, including that her father was “a little taciturn” and didn’t give much details about the walk they were going to take. However, “they were dressed very simply, they wanted to go for a walk, just to get to know the surroundings of São Vicente”, “to enjoy the fresh air and the sun”, since they had taken a “very tiring walk” on the day previous.

According to Le Parisien, the last image of Véronique and Laurent was captured by a surveillance camera located near the holiday home, at 2:49 pm on March 16. In the footage, the couple appears walking towards the east, close to the coast.

In turn, the signal from the only cell phone they took for the walk was last tracked in the north of the island of Madeira, within a perimeter of 15 kilometers from São Vicente. Witnesses claim to have seen the couple at around 5:45 pm heading towards Porto Moniz.

“Who disappears on such a small island? It doesn’t make sense”

Johanna is not convinced that her parents disappeared voluntarily. “Who disappears on such a small island? It doesn’t make sense,” he told this newspaper, in another interview, adding that his parents, who had been married for 35 years, got along “very well” and remained “in love” with each other. other.

The investigation, however, did not exclude any hypothesis. Both French and Portuguese authorities continue to try to solve the mystery of Véronique Laurent’s development.
