About the Braga Philharmonic Orchestra (OFB)

The OFB is a project dreamed up in 2014 by a small group of people who believe in the quality and competence of our young musicians and think that they deserve to have opportunities to perform regularly in public in an orchestra that wants to assert itself as a driving force for all types of music, performing symphonic concerts, with soloists, with lyrical and pop singers, with choirs and traditional groups. The Orchestra celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

Created within the Canto Daqui Cultural Association, it has performed many concerts since its foundation and participated in several shows, ceremonies, galas and special events.

Being able to respond with enormous versatility to any request and with the objective of always ensuring artistic standards of impeccable quality, he usually presents his global training but also performs concerts with String Ensemble or Wind Ensembles, among many other possibilities of musical intervention that govern the their objectives (Camera quartets, brass groups, etc…).

In 2019, OFB released its first album entitled “Coração Cinéfilo”. A CD recorded live at a concert at Theatro Circo in Braga composed of film soundtracks.

In December 2019, OFB toured China for 12 days presenting its “New Year Concert – Strauss & Friends”.

All concerts received effusive standing ovations from the audience that always filled the auditoriums.

The Chinese Organization sent a letter to the Mayor of Braga praising the quality, professionalism and rigor of the Orchestra in all presentations, thus creating an excellent image of the city of Braga.

This year (2024), OFB released its second album entitled “Clássicos ao Domingo” which encompasses the best recordings of the themes presented in classical concerts.

The Musical Direction of the Braga Philharmonic Orchestra is in charge of Braga maestro Filipe Cunha and brings together elements that are mostly young from Braga in its formation, thus giving them the opportunity for work, experience and evolution.
