The Port of Aveiro received a visit from a group of resident and non-resident ambassadors from the European Union.

The delegation, led by the ambassador of Belgium, Serge Wauthier, and made up of the ambassador(s) of Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, the European Commission, the Consul of Austria as well as senior officials from the embassies of Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Romania and Sweden visited the North Terminal, ZALI – Logistics and Industrial Activity Zone and the Liquid Bulk Terminal.

During the visit there was an opportunity to get to know the Port of Aveiro and its business areas, with emphasis on the liquid bulk segment.

The importance of projects in the wind industry onshore, offshore floating, innovation in the port sector and its impact on the energy and digital transition as well as the planned investments in terms of maritime and railway accessibility were other topics covered.

This visit takes place within the scope of the Belgian Presidency of the European Council which organized, in partnership with AICEP, present in the delegation, a visit to Bondalti, located in the Estarreja Chemical Complex, and took advantage of the trip to get to know the Port of Aveiro where the Bondalti has facilities and handles a large part of its cargo.

In the welcome session, in addition to the members of the Board of Directors of the Port of Aveiro, Eduardo Feio and Andreia Queirós, and the Director of Port Coordination, Pedro Lemos, the President of the Municipal Council of Ílhavo, João Campolargo, and the Captain of the Port of Aveiro, Conceição Dias.
