PSP reports 59 accidents that caused 12 minor injuries and one serious injury | Funchal News | Madeira News – Information for everyone for everyone!

The PSP Regional Command of Madeira came to inform that between the 19th and the 25th of April, 59 road accidents occurred in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, 24 of which in Funchal, 4 in Câmara de Lobos, 7 in Ribeira Brava, 2 in Ponta do Sol, 2 in Calheta, 4 in Porto Moniz, 1 in São Vicente, 2 in Santana, 5 in Machico and 8 in Santa Cruz.

“This number of accidents resulted in a total of 12 minor injuries (7 in Funchal, 1 in Câmara de Lobos, 2 in Ribeira Brava, 1 in Santana and 1 in Machico) and 1 serious injury in Santa Cruz”, adds the Police of Public security.

The types of traffic accidents referred to were as follows:

Collisions (45), crashes (11), being run over (1), others (2).

The fight against road accidents continues to be one of the PSP’s main priorities, which is carried out through an increase in police visibility, which is eminently preventive, and various local actions, of an imminently educational and preventive nature, which are implemented in all municipalities of the Region, through municipal police stations and aimed at a very broad audience.

Cumulatively, we guarantee permanent and intensive monitoring of drivers’ behavior, through specific and more incisive inspection operations, in relation to the various factors considered to be a risk, increasing the number of road accidents.

In this context, and during the aforementioned time gap, several road inspection operations were carried out, which resulted in the materialization of 26 arrests for driving a vehicle while drunk, (16 in Funchal, 6 in Câmara de Lobos, 1 in São Vicente, 1 in Santa Cruz and 2 in Porto Santo); 7 arrests for driving without a legal license (6 in Funchal and 1 in Câmara de Lobos); and 2 arrests for disobedience/driving with a seized license, in Câmara de Lobos.
