One group of seven PSD activists signed a manifesto where he calls for a right-wing government solution with Chega. In an interview with SIC Notícias, Bruno Costa, Political Science analyst, guarantees that the document was already expected, but that it will not be of great importance.
“Obviously, in a party with so much diversity of opinion this would be expected”, but “if we look at the signatories of this text we realize that at the moment they have a very small or almost irrelevant weight in the structures and decision-making centers of the PSD”, he guaranteed.
“It seems to me that it is not at all representative of what the masses are that currently end up determining the PSD’s strategy and it also seems to me that it does not make any difference to Luís Montenegro’s strategy”, he added.
This Monday, the President of the Republic refused, in a statement, to comment on party statements or newspaper reports, minutes after the Chega leader said that Belém would not oppose the party’s possible presence in the Government.
In the opinion of the Political Science analyst, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa should not have advanced with “any announcement”since “a statement of one and a half lines saying that it does not comment on statements made by parties or party leaders is not justified”. For Bruno Costa, the Presidency of the Republic should have ignored this communication from André Ventura.
