ANDExactly 40 days after Alexey Navalny’s death, more than a dozen popular Russian artists released a 10-minute song dedicated to the Russian opposition leader.
The music video for the song, inspired by the American television series ‘Rick and Morty’, the politician’s favorite, was published on YouTube.
Artists who contributed to the track, titled ‘In Memory of Alexei Navalny’, include Zemfira, Noize MC, rapper Vlady from the group Kasta, singer Vera Polozkova and actor and musician Artur Smolyaninov. The song is also available on most streaming platforms.
Yulia Navalnaya, Navalny’s widow, used the social network X to share the song. “Today 40 days pass since Alexei’s murder. Musicians, poets and artists recorded a song in memory of him. Thank you to everyone who remembered” reads the publication’s description.
Alexei Navalny, one of the main opponents of the Russian president, died on February 16, aged 47, in an Arctic prison, where he was serving a 19-year sentence.
Russia’s prison services indicated that Navalny felt unwell after a walk and lost consciousness. Prominent Western leaders, the opponent’s family and supporters hold Vladimir Putin responsible for his death.
Navalny’s wife even released a video statement about her husband’s death, accusing Russia of having poisoned Putin’s opponent.
