Depression Nelson continues to cause havoc and promises not to stop there

Storm Nelson has caused flooding and damage in several places, especially in the Lisbon region. Bad weather conditions are expected to persist until next Sunday.

During Wednesday afternoon, intense rain left marks in several areas of the capital. In Cascais, water entered homes and commercial establishments without permission.

For residents, unfortunately, the situation is no longer seen as a big surprise. They just have to deal with the consequences.

The next few days will be filled with rain and strong winds, with the entire country under yellow warning. The coastal districts are, until 3:00 am on Friday, under orange warning due to sea unrest, with waves that can reach 12 meters.

North of the affected country

This is the case in Porto where Avenida D. Carlos I, in Foz, will remain restricted and with areas closed to traffic and pedestrians, at least until Friday.

The bars in the north of the country are almost all closed to navigation, except in Viana do Castelo, Leixões, Figueira da Foz and Aveiro, which are restricted to vessels of less than 35 meters in length.

The Nelson depression is here to stay, at least, until Sunday, on an Easter that will be marked by cold, rain and wind.

Snow in the Azores

On Terceira Island, the Serra de Santa Bárbara dressed in white, a rare but not unique moment. The central and eastern group of the Azores archipelago is under an orange warning for sea disturbances until 3pm this Thursday, with a yellow warning for wind. The eastern group is on yellow warning.

In Madeira, from noon onwards, the warning for maritime unrest is raised to orange, which is expected to remain in effect until at least Saturday.
