BCP and Galp support Lisbon. Oil company reaches new closing high

The Lisbon stock exchange ended this Thursday’s session rising 0.19%, on a day in which only four listed companies appreciated.

The main national index ended this Thursday’s session on a high, on a day when most other European markets were falling.

The PSI was boosted by the gains of BCP and Galp and ended up appreciating 0.19% to 6,542.23 points, with four listed on the rise, 10 in the red and two unchanged, Jerónimo Martins and Greenvolt.

BCP, following the banking sector in Europe, one of the few in positive territory, recovered from the drop of almost 4% recorded on Wednesday – in what was the worst day since the end of February – and rose 2.27% to 0.3196 euros.

Also on the podium was Sonae, gaining 1.63% to 0.938 euros, a maximum since the end of November, followed by Galp, which added 1.3% to 20.25 euros – reaching a new closing record. During the session it traded at 20.34 euros, very close to the historical maximum set yesterday at 20.38 euros.

On Tuesday, the oil company became the most valuable listed company on the main national index, benefiting from the announcement that it had completed the first phase of the Mopane exploration project in Namibia with an “important commercial discovery”.

Conversely, Mota-Engil depreciated 3.1% to 4.064 euros – the lowest value since the beginning of the year -, CTT lost 1.77% to 4.445 euros and Nos fell 1.07% to 3.245 euros.

In the EDP family, the parent company fell 0.88% to 3.394 euros and Renováveis ​​gave up 0.24% to 12.62 euros.
