iPhone sells well, but… It’s selling less!

Last year, when rumors began to appear that the iPhone would increase significantly in price in all its versions, we said… Normal! The iPhone always sells, whether it’s different, whether it’s good, or whether it’s the same as all the other versions we already know and which have dominated the market since the iPhone X.

It is the purest of reality! The iPhone is the “standard” of the mobile world, and in fact, if we look at the top 10 best-selling devices, you will find 5 or 6 iOS devices occupying the top positions in that same table.

However, at a time when smartphones are increasingly expensive, at the same time that they have stopped innovating as much, the truth is that even the iPhone is beginning to suffer from the effects of market stagnation and saturation. Bad news of gigantic proportions for Apple! Since the iPhone is the company’s most important product, being the only one that sells sufficiently passive quantities to influence the numbers in the financial report.

In case you didn’t know, the number of iPhone activations is low in the United States, which is the most important market for Apple. It’s a bad sign! However, it is also a sign that something has to change.

Therefore, the number of activations dropped drastically in the United States, we are talking about a 33% drop, which is the lowest number in recent years. Something that could be due to the low demand for the iPhone, but which most likely has other associated factors, as we said above.

This makes everything the analysts have been saying start to make some sense. In other words, if the iPhone 16 isn’t really very different, Apple could suffer.

What is happening?

In a world where money is not abundant, and is therefore needed for other more important things, something that is largely due to the inflation of the last 1~2 years, Apple is starting to suffer a little from the competition Android, which now commands 2 thirds of activations in the North American market.

What is clear is not a fair comparison, because on the Android side there are alternatives for all tastes and wallets, while Apple focuses on the most premium ranges on the market. However, it is also a window into a new reality! Apple needs to pay attention to prices, or offer products that are more wallet-friendly, as may be the case with the future iPhone SE 4.

Consumers, even those who prefer super high-end devices, no longer change devices as often. In other words, those who used to change their iPhone every year, or every 2 years, are now doing so every 3, or 4 in 4.

The market has changed!

Fortunately, as smartphone prices have increased, their durability has also increased.

However, the increase in performance and implementation of features has slowed down at an arguably even faster rate.

If things don’t change… Why play with a smartphone?
