Brazão was arrested at the end of March with his brother Domingos Brazão and former Civil Police chief Rivaldo Barbosa. They were accused of planning the murder of the councilor.

The brothers were transferred to Campo Grande and Porto Velho, after staying in the Papuda federal penitentiary complex, in Brasília. The order was from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), who is the rapporteur of the case. Brazão was expelled from União Brasil on the day of his arrest.

Where would the money go

Brazão indicated R$37.8 million for Rio in 2024. The largest portion, R$10.6 million, went to pay for hospital and outpatient care services. The health indications were in the form of a special fund-to-fund transfer, that is, the amount goes directly to the state. There are also indications for sending resources for education, human rights, women, sport and culture.

The government still needs to pay R$6.9 million of the Brazão amendments committed to in 2023. The data comes from Siop (Integrated Planning and Budget System). More robust resources were suggested for “promotion and defense of human rights” projects in the Ministries of Women and Human Rights.

Indicating the amounts is the first step for a parliamentarian to send money to your state. The next step is commitment, when the resource is reserved. Only then does it go to the next phase, when it is actually paid.
