The vote on the IRS reduction proposed by the Government is postponed for two weeks. The PSD’s request was approved to be sent to the commission without a vote this Wednesday. The Bloco de Esquerda and Livre abstained and all other parties accepted the request. The same happened with Chega’s proposal, which asked for a postponement for two months. In this case, only BE abstained

The Left Bloc’s bill, which foresees changing the specific deduction, was approved, with PS, IL, BE, PCP, Livre and Pan voting in favor. The PSD and CDS voted against. Only Chega abstained

Parliament also approved the reduction in IRS foreseen by the PS. Chega and IL abstained, while PSD and CDS voted against. The PS, BE, PCP, Livre and Pan voted in favor, which means that the PS proposal will be debated in committee.
Hugo Soares, leader of the PSD parliamentarian, had already announced that the proposal to lower the IRS would not be voted on in parliament. The leader says that he contacted all the benches and “only the Liberal Initiative agreed to dialogue”.

Today, with the Government’s consent, we will propose the dismissal to the commission without voting on our proposal,” said the PSD parliamentary leader.

O CM You know that there were talks between parties during the morning, namely with PS and Chega. One of the issues on the table was the possibility of the proposal not being voted on this Wednesday, but automatically going to debate in the parliamentary committee.

However, this would only happen if the starting point of the negotiation is a greater reduction in the IRS at the lowest levels, a demand from Chega. To the CMAndré Ventura, party leader, confirmed that he proposed negotiations to the PSD to reach this solution, and is awaiting a response.
